R&D Backend Team Lead (Data Platform)
About The Position
Join Us at TailorMed – Transforming Healthcare Affordability
At TailorMed, we’re on a mission to eliminate barriers across the entire medication journey—from affordability to access and adherence. As a pioneering force in healthcare, we’re building a new category that transforms how patients, providers, pharmacies, life sciences, and payers collaborate to ensure every patient receives the treatment they need without delay.
Our platform powers the nation’s largest Affordability Network, deployed across hundreds of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. Behind the scenes, massive volumes of complex, real-world data are continuously processed to drive critical decisions, automate workflows, and improve patient outcomes.
We’re looking for a Data Backend Team Lead — a leader who thrives on designing scalable data systems, turning messy healthcare data into reliable, high-impact platforms, and building the foundation for AI-driven products.
This role is for someone who wants to own data as a product, shape architecture at scale, and enable smarter, faster decisions across the company.
Requirements
- ● 5+ years of backend engineering experience, building and operating production-grade systems.
- 2+ years of engineering leadership experience, managing and mentoring developers.
- Strong experience in designing scalable, distributed backend systems (microservices, event-driven architecture, etc.).
- Proven ability to work on high-scale, data-intensive systems — with a focus on performance and reliability.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) and modern backend technologies.
- Strong understanding of system design, data flows, and service architecture (not just pipelines).
- Experience working with complex domains and messy real-world data — advantage.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-driven systems or enabling infrastructure — advantage.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High ownership mindset — you take responsibility for systems end-to-end, not just components.
